COMMISSION INFORMATION & TERMS
A little something made just for you
Thinking about commissioning an original piece of artwork? Wonderful!
I love creating one-off pieces that find their way into people's homes and lives. Whether you've got a fully formed idea or just the beginnings of something strange and wonderful, here's a little information about how the whole process works.
1. How it works
It all starts with an idea!
Fill out my commission enquiry form and tell me a little about what you're looking for, including your preferred size, subject matter, budget and any particular deadline.
I'll get back to you to discuss your idea, what's possible and how I might bring it to life.
Once we've agreed on the details, I'll provide a quote and an estimated completion date.
Please note that submitting an enquiry doesn't automatically guarantee a commission booking.
2. Pricing & payment
Every commission is different, so prices depend on the size, materials and complexity of the artwork.
Once we've agreed on the details, I'll provide a quote before any work begins.
To secure your commission, I ask for a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance payable upon completion and before the artwork
is dispatched.
Any additional requests or significant changes to the original brief may incur an extra charge, which will always be discussed and
agreed beforehand.
Delivery costs will be confirmed separately unless included in your original quote.
3. Creative freedom
This is an important one!
When you commission me, you're commissioning my artistic style, imagination and interpretation of your idea.
I'm always happy to hear your thoughts, inspirations and requests, but I also ask for a little creative freedom along the way. That's often where the interesting stuff happens!
While I'll work within our agreed brief, the finished artwork will be my own interpretation rather than an exact reproduction of reference images or other artists' work.
4. Sketches & revisions
Depending on the nature of your commission, I may provide an initial sketch or rough composition for approval before starting the
final artwork.
One round of reasonable minor adjustments is included at the sketch stage, where applicable.
Once the final artwork is underway, major changes to the composition, colours or subject may not be possible, or may require an
additional fee.
I'll always discuss this with you before making any changes that affect the price.
5. Timescales
Good art takes a little time (and occasionally a bit of creative chaos).
I'll give you an estimated completion date before we begin. This will depend on the size and complexity of the piece, along with my
existing workload.
If you're commissioning something for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion, please let me know as early as possible.
I'll do my best to meet agreed deadlines and keep you informed if anything changes.
6. Cancellations & refunds
Each commission is created specifically for you, so please be sure you're happy with the agreed brief and price before proceeding.
If you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible.
Where cancellation is permitted, any refund will take account of the work already completed and any reasonable costs incurred, in accordance with your statutory rights.
Truly bespoke or personalised artworks may be exempt from the usual 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right.
Any applicable cancellation rights will be explained when your commission is confirmed.
This does not affect your statutory rights if the artwork is faulty, not as described or the service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill.
7. Delivery & collection
Once your artwork is complete and the final payment has been received, I'll arrange delivery or collection.
All artworks are carefully packaged to give them the best possible chance of arriving safely.
Shipping costs depend on the size, weight and destination of the artwork and will be confirmed in advance.
International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties or import charges, which are not included unless
stated otherwise.
If your artwork arrives damaged, please get in touch as soon as possible, ideally with photographs of the packaging and artwork, so I can help resolve the issue.
8. Copyright & usage
Although you own the physical artwork once purchased, copyright remains with me, Joni Belaruski, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
You're very welcome to display your artwork in your home, photograph it and share it on social media (a credit or tag is always appreciated!).
However, reproducing the artwork for commercial purposes, creating merchandise or using it for promotional or business purposes requires my written permission.
Commercial commissions and licensing agreements are quoted separately.
9. Sharing the finished artwork
I love sharing my creative process and finished pieces on my website, social media and in my portfolio.
I may photograph and share commissioned artwork unless we've agreed otherwise.
If your commission is a surprise gift or you'd prefer it to stay private, just let me know beforehand and I'll happily discuss that with you.
10. One last thing...
I want commissioning a piece of art to be a fun, collaborative and exciting experience.
A bit of trust, good communication and creative freedom go a long way towards making something really special.
If you've got any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Ready to make something happen?
Head over to my commission enquiry form and tell me what you've got in mind.
Joni x
