TIL DEATH DO US PARTY
What’s happening and when?
It’s all happening on Friday 7 th August in Stoke Newington, north London.
The Ceremony – 2.45-4.25pm
Abney Park Chapel, Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington
Abney Park Chapel — Hackney Venues
The Procession – from around 4.30pm
We will be walking from Abney Park Chapel, south through the cemetery to the exit on Stoke Newington Church Street (just west of Stoke Newington Fire Station), and then along Church Street to the Red Lion pub.
Unfortunately we couldn’t accommodate all of you in the Ceremony. If you’re not coming to the Ceremony itself, you are most welcome to join us for any or all of the procession! We’ll be joined by our friends in the Urban Voodoo Machine Marching Band.
The Party – from around 5pm until 1am (tbc)
The Red Lion pub, 132 Stoke Newington Church Street N16
We will arrive at the side entrance to the pub, into their beer garden (but you can also go in via the main street entrance – we have booked the whole pub). After that, the evening will go something like this:
-
5.30pm: a couple more songs with the marching band and friends.
-
6pm: food (hot and cold buffet) and drinks
-
6.30pm: a few speeches, a few toasts
-
7pm: live music and other shenanigans for the rest of the night
Accommodation
We know some of you are travelling from out of town and from abroad. We will be staying at the Rose & Crown pub on Stoke Newington Church Street from Thursday 6 th to Sunday 9 th August.
There are a lot of hotels, BnBs and AirBnbs in the area. We’ve picked out a few for you:
-
The Brownswood – Pub & Guest Rooms – boutique hotel, 10 mins walk from the Red Lion. Only a few rooms available but worth a look.
-
Travelodge Manor House – around 15-20 mins walk, or a bus or taxi ride.
-
Premier Inn Hackney – around 25-30 mins walk, or a bus or taxi ride.
-
Travelodge Finsbury Park – around 30-35 mins walk, or a bus or taxi ride.
-
Amhurst Hotel, Stamford Hill – super-budget option, you can get rooms with en suite or with a shared bathroom, and there is a communal kitchen and a nice garden. Cheap and cheerful. We’ve stayed there a few times ourselves! Around 20 mins walk – or bus or taxi
